About the artist

Augustine Thilak

“Augustine Thilak’s mixed media works have a poetic subtlety and meditative silence. A painter, photographer and a performance artist, he weaves together the duality of man's existence in his works, namely the contradictions in life as presence-absence, material-spiritual, visible-invisible, which offers opportunities to rise above it all by connecting with spiritual inner self.” - As quoted by Ashrafi S Bhagat Ph.D (Art Historian, Critic and Independent Curator) Augustine Thilak, is a multifaceted Artist, working in different spheres of life, with his endless thirst for learning. He indulges in different art forms including Painting, Yoga, Music, Photography, Designing etc and uses the Therapeutic side of Art to connect with people on a deeper level. He is an avid Trekker and likes the new challenges he faces on every trek especially 'The Himalayas'. His passion for Art started at a very young age, as he was doodling his thoughts with much untold creativity. Eventually, after excelling as the best outgoing student in College of Fine Arts, his fascination towards the workings of the mind, led him to pursue his study in psychotherapy. He furthered his studies in Yoga and other Alternative therapies to understand man in a holistic manner, which helped him to understand the uniqueness and individual differences in people, enabling him to work also with children with special needs. Having delved into Art, Psychotherapy, Yoga and Alternative therapies, he pursues different Art forms, one such led him to study on plant colour Painting in Switzerland. Furthermore he is pursuing a course on the art form of Eurythmy and is also working as an Art Consultant in a Waldorf school, Chennai.
