Mother Symbol-20
About the artist
LARA BORIOTTI
room AUROVILLELara is Italian and lives in Italy. She explained that the sound of the thread flowing through the fabric stretched in the frame transports her into a dimension of peace, of serenity, of silence and the thread flows with precise, ancient and regular movements as if it were not her guiding it. Embroidery is a passion that she has cultivated since she was a child, a tradition that passes through the love for her great-grandmother, her grandmother, her mother, a thread that binds feminine memories of simple beauty. She was born in Milano (Italy) in 1971 from a simple family. Since she was a girl she wanted to perfect this passion of hers. On the one hand there was studying at the University and on the other there were intensive courses and masterclasses to deepen the techniques of Italian embroidery. But always only for her personal pleasure. She came to India for the first time in 2016, because her new partner had been going here for almost 30 years. She knew nothing about it and had read nothing. She just wanted to see what was here. And she saw...All. The love and the joy she has felt were transformed into the need to express them. The Symbol of Mother attracted her like a powerful light of beauty and she began to draw it and embroider it with threads and fabrics. For Douce Mère.
