Lasse van den Dikkenberg

Lasse (1993) is a self-taught artist from the Netherlands. In his figurative linocuts and woodcuts he often addresses political and societal topics. Art has the ability to make these complex issues accessible through the emotions which art can invoke. Other frequently recurring themes are dance and music. His work is influenced by art nouveau, symbolism, surrealism and pop-art. “I love graphic arts, partially because of the technical aspects, both the possibilities and the limitations of these techniques. But most importantly I like it because graphic arts are in a sense democratic arts. Due to the fact that you make artworks in series these works are much more affordable and I think that therefore they have the potential to reach a much wider and diverse public.” His work was previously exhibited at Gallery Kunst aan de Kade in Delft (NL) and in the Leiden University (NL). In 2019 he won the 1st Prize during the Art contest at the I.R. D.F. Woudagemaal (UNESCO World Heritage site) on the occasion of the 100 year anniversary of the chimney.
